cleaning, sealing & Maintenance
Cleaning & Sealing
Segmental paver systems require minimal maintenance in order to maintain its structural integrity. However, cleaning and sealing pavers periodically will help maintain their color and cleanliness. We know our systems will last for 40+ years, but we would also like our projects to look as new as possible for decades to come. We offer full-service cleaning, sealing, and maintenance repairs for all our projects.
BENEFITS OF SEALING PAVERS INCLUDE:
- Protecting the Pavers from UV and Rain Exposure – While the concrete pavers themselves are highly durable, the colored pigments in the pavers can slowly fade over time, due to the UV ray exposure and water absorption. Sealing the pavers helps to keep the paver’s colors vibrant even in the Florida sun and rain.
- Enhancing the Colors – Sealers can draw out the colors and contrasts found in the concrete pavers and create greater visual interest.
- Stabilizing Interlocking Joint Sand – Joint stabilizing sealers have the added benefit of hardening the joint sand in between the pavers, which prevents displacement from wind, rain, and insects that can cause pavers to sink or shift. This is particularly effective for pool decks, to keep sand out of the pool. Joint stabilizing sealers also help reduce weed growth between paver joints.
- Stain Removal – Perhaps the most important benefit of sealers is that they make pavers less porous, which helps limit stains, since the pavers are less able to soak up the oil or dirt, etc. Sealing your concrete pavers makes cleanup of spills easier if they do happen.
PAVER Maintenance
When properly installed, interlocking concrete pavements have very low maintenance and provide an attractive surface for decades. Under foot and vehicular traffic, they can become exposed to dirt, stains and wear. This is common to all pavements. Paver Maintenance can include removing stains and cleaning, and joint stabilization or sealing if required.
Concrete pavers can act as a zipper in the pavement. When the need arises to make underground repairs, interlocking concrete pavements can be removed and replaced using the same material. Unlike asphalt or poured-in-place concrete, segmental pavement can be opened and closed without using jack hammers on the surface and with less construction equipment. This results in no ugly patches and no reduction in pavement service life. In addition, no curing means fast repairs with reduced user delays and related costs. The process of reusing the same paving units is called reinstatement.
